Kathryn Whetten is the Director of the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at the Duke Global Health Institute. They are a Professor of Public Policy and Global Health with additional appointments in Community and Family Medicine and Nursing and the Research Director of the Hart Fellows Program at the Sanford School of Public Policy. Whetten has led over 25 federally funded research grants and is the author of 3 books and over 90 peer reviewed articles. They are the chair of multiple committees including the Sanford Committee on Diversity and Inclusion and the Maternal, Adolescent and Child Health Committee at the Duke Global Health Institute. Whetten’s work focuses on understanding health disparities locally and globally, and the goal of their research is to provide empirical evidence to policy makers to improve systems of care for marginalized populations.
