CHPIR’s Dr. Chris Conover has recently published an article on the blog of the American Enterprise Institute titled We Have Met the Enemy and It Is Us: Healthcare Fact of the Week.

A new study projects that U.S. healthcare spending will rise by as much as $66 billion a year by 2030 because of obesity. That’s about 2.6 percent of current health spending. Our 2011 CHPIR interns are going to be doing a short presentation on their common project entitled TRRIPS (Transportation & Resource Reference Indicating Provided Services). They have studied transportation services in Durham and begun an HIV database that will be used by the state.

They will be making their presentation before the International Sector meeting on Friday, July 29 from 9:30-10 am at our offices in Erwin Terrace, and there will be a few minutes for questions.

Congratulations and thank you to our interns on their work!
