Summary of Responsibilities: Genevieve Ankeny Hunter has worked for over fifteen years in the field of sexuality education.  She spent the past seven years at Duke University specializing in HIV/AIDS prevention, HIV testing and training, working with people living with HIV/AIDS and client retention to care.  Genevieve has served on multiple projects at the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research including:   theCarolina Drug and Alcohol Expansion Team (CADET), a SAMHSA project, the Regional Health Information Integration Project (RHIIP), a HRSA Special Project of National Significance, and the Southern Reach Project, an AIDS United project. All projects serve to improve care for people living with HIV/AIDS in North Carolina in various capacities.

For the past year, she has conducted trainings on HIV Counseling, Testing and Referral for the NC AIDS Education and Training Center and the Communicable Disease Branch of North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services.  In November 2011 CHPIR received a three year award, from the North Carolina Women’s Health Branch, to serve young people in Craven County by implementing the Prepare for Success Teen Outreach Program, a teen pregnancy and HIV/STD prevention project.  Genevieve will coordinate this project.  It is the first CHPIR project to serve youth in North Carolina.
